The Bistro

The Bistro is the second restaurant that I visited at the World Cuisine Network and while there has been a level of inconsistency with the  food. The overall experience has been rather pleasant.

Located at the ground floor of the building the Bistro is a cafe/restaurant that is open throughout the day for those of you who like eating at odd hours. It’s slim picking for those of us who’d like to grab a bite at 4 in the afternoon.

Delicacy

We’ve all eaten at our share of expensive restaurants, some pretentious and some not. Though occasionally we feel the need to visit something less ostentatious in the hope that it causes a smaller dent in our bank balance, and while this cost saving might be a driving factor I’ve found that its the attraction of a quaint little restaurant that drives me there.

Delicacy is a place you will only find by accident and given the fact it is on my route back home I decided to take a quick look.

Babettes

What started out as an innocent night out with friends quickly turned into a full blown fiasco( at least for the foody in me ) . The ingredients? sub-standard food, confused waiters and a restaurant that tries to be chic and fails.

As you can probably tell this is one of my harsher reviews, but as I’ve mentioned before if you charge a premium on your food you are expected to deliver on diner experience.

Chung Wah

This review starts with a disclaimer, Chinese food  isn’t my first choice when I decide to step out of the cosy confines of my house to grab a bite. However I must say my trip to China a year or so ago opened my palate up to fresh tastes that frankly even the best 5 star hotels haven’ t been able to replicate.

Right, so where was I… This review focuses on a restaurant called Chung Wah,situated at White Field which lets face it is more than a stone throw from any part of town.

Roll Over Cafe

This I’m pretty sure will be one of the shortest reviews I’ve written so far. Given the fact that this review took place between deciding which movie to go for and a bathroom break I can safely say I haven’t given it the attention it deserves, then again this is a cafe!

The Roll over Cafe is located at the Food court in Garuda Mall, its shares seating with virtually every kind of fast food you can find so there is no ambience to speak off ,however their deserts are rather appetizing.

TGI Friday’s

TGI Friday’s is perfectly located to indulge in that late evening drink right after work. After all it is located at the junction of Airport Road, Indiranagar and the Inner Ring Road.

The biggest draw of TGIF is of course their happy hours which doubles the drinks you order for free!! The only drawback of this is you need to place your order before 8:30 PM. I guess that would explain the headlong dash to the pub the moment work lets up :)

The Only Place

If you’ve been in Bangalore for while you’d understand me when I say, think steaks, think Only place.  The location has changed, and so has the quality of food over the last decade or so but the one thing that hasn’t are the waiters :), and yes it is still rather dirty.

Located at the end of Museum Road is a restaurant that really hasn’t changed very much, parking is still a problem however if you are lucky you just might get a spot on the main road.

Tavern at the Inn

Most drinking sessions start with a head long rush to the nearest watering hole the moment you step out of the office. This day wasn’t any different, it just involved a longer drive.

So, whats so special about tavern?  Well, the biggest thing going for this pub is its location, being on Museum Inn road ensures that you are as central as you can get. Unlike some of the other pubs it still has the charm of a good old Bangalore pub.

Take 5

Take 5 is in every sense of the word a traditional Bangalore pub however unlike a pub it has a food list that rivals most restaurants.

The cuisines they serve are broadly classified under the Continental and Chinese headers, however this review focuses only on the continental section.

Located on the second floor of what has to be a building with the widest variety of food joints in Indiranagar Take 5 is a comfortable pub to settle into, be it after a long day at the office or a lazy lunch over a weekend.

Barista - Koramangala

The new Barista is well the same as the old Barista, the only difference is the price and the variety of food they serve. There seems to be a steady shift away from being “just a cafe” to being a full fledged restaurant.

There is no doubt that their coffee’s are still some of the best in town though their iced teas still leave a lot to be desired. Their portions are ridiculously small for the price they charge

  • About
I've been an avid Foodie ever since i can remember, whether it was enjoying something my Grand Mother rustled up in the kitchen, eating at a five star hotel or at a corner Dhaba. This Blog was started as a means of discussing with you, the reader, my experiences at these very restaurants and watering holes across the city of Bangalore. Over time I plan to include information on alcohol and travel destinations as well.
