Idli’s, Omlette’s and Such

I had a feeling it was about time I started an “unstructured” section on my blog that allowed me to pen down random thoughts on the subject of food. This first post titled Idli’s, Omelette’s and such  is an attempt to do just that.

While my preference in cuisines range from Japanese to Italian I am a huge fan of the South Indian breakfast. Dosa’s and Idli’s in particular, so when an opportunity presents itself I tend to favour this over eggs and bacon ( sometimes :) ).

Fame Cafe

Having promised to do a couple of “regular” restaurant and cafe reviews I decided to write about the Fame cafe after I stumbled upon it over a weekend while a friend and I were looking to find a steak joint.

It turned out to be the best accident that could have happened to us as now I have a place to go grab breakfast or a late night snack whenever I head to that side of town.

Sunny’s

This is a review that’s been long overdue. I’ve always had the fondest memories of Sunny’s and even though I’ve eaten there for over a decade it’s great food never ceases to draw me in again and again.

“The Cafe” by Oakwood

Sunday afternoons are meant to be spent out in the open, and with the weather being nice for the last few weeks there was no better time and so I made my way to UB City with the intention of finding a new place to eat among its range of restaurants.

The Cafe by Oakwood is a small outlet that sits on the food court adjacent to much larger restaurants and this review was to see if it could hold it’s own.

Maiya’s

After eating at all the so called upscale restaurants there is really something to be said about appreciating good simple food, my Maiya’s experience was that in a nutshell. It’s located in a section of the city that I very rarely visit, however I am glad the opportunity to try this place out presented itself.

We had a reservation for 1:30 but in true “IST” ( Indian Standard Time ) fashion we were made to wait for over 30 minutes before a place opened up. I do not like waiting for a seat when I’m hungry, and I’m sure most of you share that sentiment. However, the fact that there was a huge waiting line did increase my expectations of the restaurant.

  • About
I've been an avid Foodie ever since i can remember, whether it was enjoying something my Grand Mother rustled up in the kitchen, eating at a five star hotel or at a corner Dhaba. This Blog was started as a means of discussing with you, the reader, my experiences at these very restaurants and watering holes across the city of Bangalore. Over time I plan to include information on alcohol and travel destinations as well.
