The Bloody Mary has been around for ages, and while it’s not a favourite of mine( I think it has to do with tomato juice and tabasco in the cocktail )  a number of people swear by this cocktail.

The last time I had one was when I was nursing a hangover and while I do not like this cocktail very much it really did help.

Ingredients

  • 30ml vodka
  • 125ml tomato juice
  • Worcestershire sauce.
  • lemon juice.
  • dill pickle juice
  • Tabasco sauce.
  • horseradish sauce
  • Celery sticks

While the list of ingredients is exhaustive you could make do with the vodka, tomato juice and tabasco sauce.

Steps

  1. Mix 30ml of vodka, 125ml of tomato juice , 2 dashes of Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, dill pickle juice, Tabasco sauce, horseradish sauce, celery salt, lemon juice and pepper and perhaps a slice of lemon/stick of celery for decoration.
  2. Shake all the ingredients in a tumbler.
  3. Pour into a glass filled with crushed ice,you can use ice cubes but the texture wouldn’t be the same.
  4. The celery stick makes a nice addition to the cocktail however if it isn’t fresh please avoid it.  You might want to try leaving a few of these sticks in a tomato / vodka concontion in your fridge overnight. It should allow the celery stick to absorb the flavour and make it taste better.
  5. Some people like to throw in a sliced green chili to give it a bit of a zing.

To make a Virgin Mary you need to follow the same steps but leave out the alcohol

I've been an avid Foodie ever since i can remember, whether it was enjoying something my Grand Mother rustled up in the kitchen, eating at a five star hotel or at a corner Dhaba. This Blog was started as a means of discussing with you, the reader, my experiences at these very restaurants and watering holes across the city of Bangalore. Over time I plan to include information on alcohol and travel destinations as well.
