Having promised to do a couple of “regular” restaurant and cafe reviews I decided to write about the Fame cafe after I stumbled upon it over a weekend while a friend and I were looking to find a steak joint.

It turned out to be the best accident that could have happened to us as now I have a place to go grab breakfast or a late night snack whenever I head to that side of town.

The Experience:

There is nothing fancy about this place and from what I can see its been around for a while.  The biggest advantage is that you can smoke on the porch outside while digging into the food ( some of my friends do smoke and this automatically trumps the other restaurants that don’t allow you to ).

The decor is dated with plain chairs and checked table covers.

Array

To Drink:

Given that this is a cafe you have the regular varieties of coffee and tea ( their earl grey is rather nice ).and other non-alcoholic beverages though sometimes the craving to get a nice Irish coffee is very tempting.

The juices that they serve with breakfast come straight out of a can and aren’t very good. They remind me of the squash we used to get at home.

Array

To Eat:

The good thing about this restaurant is that they have a very impressive list of dishes to choose from given how plain it looks.

Breakfast is something that I really enjoy here. The traditional “Big Breakfast” centers around egg ( scrambled, fried or poached ) with sides of sausage and toast. You can throw in bacon as well, and I would recommend that you do as it only adds to the experience.

Array

Butter and Jam is always available for those of you who love toast.

Array

Their sunny side up eggs looked rather nice though it took 3 orders for them to get it right ( we were served eggs fried the first two times )

Array

Their steaks are rather nice though the special they had wasn’t great , I think it had a lot to do with the sauce they used. The traditional pepper steak always works best for me.

If you are a fan of burgers do order their beef burger with bacon and cheese, it doesn’t come served with a side of fries which is rather surprising but an order of cheese fries should take care of that oversight.

Do not order the chicken burger as it really didn’t take very nice the last time I did.

Finishing Up:

The only thing I’ve had here is the ice cream and since that comes out of a carton there isn’t much to say :)

I've been an avid Foodie ever since i can remember, whether it was enjoying something my Grand Mother rustled up in the kitchen, eating at a five star hotel or at a corner Dhaba. This Blog was started as a means of discussing with you, the reader, my experiences at these very restaurants and watering holes across the city of Bangalore. Over time I plan to include information on alcohol and travel destinations as well.
