Sometimes when you get that craving for some good Ice cream you make a bee-line for the nearest joint that can satisfy it. This day was no different, the “joint” was Dolce Gelato and the location, Church Street.
I only wish the day had turned out better as I walked away from that experience wishing I had stepped into another cafe. I know that sounded harsh, it could just be because my day didn’t start out very well.
The Experience:
The one thing I have to say is that their location is fantastic, and have no doubt they get a tremendous amount of foot traffic. However given the fact that I’m looking at this as a critic ( I know that does some ominous ) I will be a little more judgmental than the average hungry sod ( which I am most of the time ).
The Decor is very basic but given the fact their primary reason for being is to sell Ice cream it’s completely understandable.

Their range of beverages is decent for an Ice cream joint and focus solely around juices and from what I can recall every item in this list is a blend of two different fruit.
Oh, and for the love of god please do NOT order the Iced tea. I know I sound cruel but it has to be the worst Iced tea I have ever had.
To Eat:
You get to chose from Soups ( served with a side of garlic bread ), Salads ( not a very wide choice – the standard green salad, BBQ chicken and Chicken sausage and egg ) and a few other items.
They have only two pastas’s to choose from ( a veg and a non-veg ) and from what I can tell the widest range of options seems to be present in the sandwich section. It would logically mean that if you are truly hungry it would be best to stick with this. This “range” would include egg and mayo, chicken wrap, BBQ chicken, non veg club, veg club, roasted paneer and a few others.
They do have two burgers, however after having seem them displayed prominently in the window covered with cellophane wrapping I would advise against choosing them. If I wanted pre-wrapped burgers I would have visited the local Coffee Day.
Finishing Up:
Given that this is a desert place I should have started with this first however while i love Gelato Ice cream’s I’m afraid that this place falls well short of the quality I’ve come to expect.
The Fine Print:
Type : Cafe
Cuisine: Continental
Meal Details: All Day
Alcohol? : No.
Meal for 2: A “meal” for 2 would set you back around Rs 300
Cards? : Yes
Gripes:
Given that it isn’t extremely expensive I can’t say very much but i really do wish they improved the quality of the food and yes, the Ice creams as well.
