TGI Friday’s is perfectly located to indulge in that late evening drink right after work. After all it is located at the junction of Airport Road, Indiranagar and the Inner Ring Road.
The biggest draw of TGIF is of course their happy hours which doubles the drinks you order for free!! The only drawback of this is you need to place your order before 8:30 PM. I guess that would explain the headlong dash to the pub the moment work lets up
It is very American, and you can tell the moment you walk through the door, heavy food and large drinks and waiters covered with badges.
For as long as i can remember I’ve always had a good experience here, with the exceptions of drinks chosen hastily ( I can’t really blame then for that ) however this time around i was truly let down by my experience. The drinks were good, thankfully that hasn’t changed as yet.
The biggest section of the pub is of course the cordoned off bar, its quite massive given what we are used to in Bangalore and gives the bar tenders enough space to churn out large volumes of drinks.
The Experience:
To Drink:
Being a pub there shouldn’t be a surprise that they serve a wide range of drinks that should suite almost any taste. On a hot day, like the ones we’ve been experiencing lately , my preferences lean towards a fresh lime based cocktail. A margarita works best for me, it has to be frozen of course.
The margarita mix, tequila and a ton of ice all blended together makes the perfect margarita. And trust me, frozen is always better than on the rock, if you can handle the cold that is. Don’t forget to order the super size drinks, they are a lot more expensive, but drinking from a glass that’s almost as large as a fish bowl has an odd satisfying feeling about it. It could be the alcoholic in me talking
Note: Always place your orders during Happy Hours, it works out cheaper that way.
A number of other cocktails to choose from are :
- Tequila sunrise
- Pink Cadillac
- Santa Fe Sunset
- Chimato cocktail
And many more..
I would tell you to stay away from the long island iced tea, the last one i had wasn’t very nice at all.
To Eat:
While the drinks are generally rather nice the one thing you should really avoid are the starters. Their onion rings at one point of time were excellent, unfortunately over time the quality has deteriorated and the last time i was there the onion rings tasted so bad and were so oily that we ended up sending the plate back.
On some days they are rather nice but I would recommend the HRC rings over these any day.
The Fridays’ Three for all starter is actually quite good, baked potatoes with bacon bits, cheese sticks, chicken wings are a perfect dish to compliment your cocktails or beer.
The Jack Daniels tower isn’t. I would strongly advise you to stay away from this dish, the sauce they use is truly horrid and while it does sound exotic ( pork ribs, chicken and prawns ) you will regret ordering it.
