I thought it was about time i featured a “proper” restaurant, so i did just that.
Via Milano is a “relatively” new restaurant and is situated at what is possibly the busiest intersection in Koramangala, they do have valet parking so you don’t need to stress. Just be prepared to wait a good 20 minutes to crawl your car through the last 50 feet before you get to the restaurant.
This review hopefully gives you an insight of what you could expect when you drop in.
The Experience:
I got there rather early so i had the option of choosing some of the better seats. I would definitely recommend sitting at the far corner on the couches as they are rather comfortable. However it does get a little tedious when you are eating.
The restaurant staff are very polite and courteous ( sometimes a little too much ) and we were seated with as little fuss as possible. A hot towel to wipe your face/hands was a nice touch !

The biggest disappointment of course were the prices. They are way to expensive for the kind of restaurant this is, ranging from around Rs300 – Rs500. They do have a wide range of drinks to satisfy most people. We ended up ordering a martini and a apple mojito ( something i would most definitely recommend ).
[flickr]photo:3256109500[/flickr]The starters are around Rs300 and they do have a reasonable variety, however nothing exceptional that i would recommend. I ended up ordering the octopus and potato salad which was rather nice AFTER i generous sprinkling of freshly ground pepper.I wasn’t too happy about the quantity as well , they have definitely started serving a lot less since the last time i came here.
The serve breads with tomatoes, mayo and pesto with olive oil, vinaigrette and chilli olive oil that i really enjoyed quite a bit.
The range of main courses include pastas, vegies, shell and fish, meats and pizzas ( that i would definitely recommend ).
The two we chose were the veal and grouper fish.
The grouper fish roll was very nice with a crisp very well done outer crust, the fish was cooked perfectly however the filing ( onions i was told ) ruined the flavour. The bed of spinach it was served on was rather tasteless and the sauce definitely could have used some flavour.
The veal on the other had was nice, it was well done from what i could tell and the quality of the meat wasn’t as good as i had hoped it could have been. The cream sauce was nice and complimented the taste of the meat. This was served again on a bed of spinach and carrot, which in my opinion destroyed the dish. The side of potato reminded me of uncooked cutlet filling my mum used to make.
The only issue i had with the service was that the waiters seemed extremely eager to clear our plates, even when we weren’t done eating. I remember sending them back thrice!!
All in all, a decent place to go to but not one i would enjoy visiting on a regular basis.
